Space Up! High School Club - Terms and Conditions

1.         Space Up! Member eligibility

a.         Anyone enrolled as a student in a New Zealand high school interested in pursuing a career in the New Zealand space sector are welcome to join the WISANZ high school club, Space Up! as a member. Space Up! is aimed at girls and gender minorities from year 9 to year 13.

b.         Teachers and staff at high schools in Aotearoa New Zealand are welcome to join Space Up! as a member.  Any teacher or staff who do join as a member must:

i.  Indicate they are teacher or staff of a high school in their sign up form,

ii. State they are a teacher or staff of a high school in their Space Up! profile, both on the WISANZ website member profile (www.womeninspace.co.nz) and in the Space Up! Community Forum member profile.

c.         WISANZ members may be invited by the WISANZ committee to join Space Up! as a WISANZ mentor. Any WISANZ member of Space Up! must:

i. State they are a WISANZ Mentor in their profile in the Space Up! Community Forum.

d.         WISANZ reserves the right to request evidence of enrolment (or employment for teachers or staff) at a New Zealand high school, which may be verified by WISANZ.  Any Space Up! member found not to be enrolled at or employed by a New Zealand high school, with the exception of WISANZ Mentors, will be removed from the Space Up! membership, including the Space Up! Community Forum without notice.

e.         Space Up! Memberships may be renewed as long as the member remains eligible.

2.         Email address for Sign up to Space Up Membership

a.         Official New Zealand high school email addresses ending with the domain suffix .school.nz must be used as email address for all Space Up members at sign up, with the exception of WISANZ mentors.

b.         Members that sign up using an email address that is not an official New Zealand high school email address will be contacted by WISANZ and must provide evidence of enrollment or employment at a New Zealand high school or may have their Space Up membership terminated without notice. 

3.         Suspending or ending membership

a.         Unless renewed, membership and access to online resources will end at 11.59pm on date specified in membership plan. 

b.         A member may end their membership at any time.

c.         If a member behaves in a way counter to the Space Up! Code of Conduct or is disruptive, abusive, offensive or threatening in any way to members of the Space Up! community, membership will be terminated without notice. Terminated members may appeal the termination decision to the WISANZ Committee via email on info@womeninspace.co.nz, however the WISANZ Committee is not required to respond beyond providing explanation for the termination of membership via email within a reasonable period.

4.         Privacy, Safety and Security

a.         Members must abide by the SpaceUp! Code of Conduct, which aims to ensure an environment that is safe for everyone by outlining values and expected behavior for our in person events, online events and virtual communities.  The Code of Conduct is posted on the WISANZ website, and may be modified periodically.

b.         The WISANZ Privacy Policy applies to Space Up! and is posted on the WISANZ website. The privacy policy may be modified periodically.

c.         Moderation of Space Up! Community Forum:  WISANZ applies automated moderation to all comments and posts in the Space Up! Community Forum to hide/prevent posts or comments containing offensive words and phrases.  WISANZ Mentors and Admins may regularly or at random review and monitor content in the Community Forum, including comments and posts, and may hide or delete links, content, media, comments or posts that they deem to be offensive, disruptive, threatening,  misleading/disinformation or otherwise do not align with the Space Up! Code of Conduct at their discretion.  

d. Members are not to share any content or images from online forums where any members are identifiable, either in images or text, externally to WISANZ.

e.         The WISANZ Committee reserves the right to terminate the membership of members whose posts or comments trigger automated or manual moderation at a frequency that is considered nuisance or persistent.

Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand Incorporated Financial Membership - Terms and Conditions

1.         General

a.         Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand Incorporated (WISANZ) is an incorporated society, incorporated under New Zealand’s Incorporated Society Act 1908.  WISANZ is operated in accordance with the WISANZ Constitution.   By signing up to a WISANZ membership plan through the online membership registration on the WISANZ official website www.womeninspace.co.nz, you will become a financial member of WISANZ and must adhere to the rules set out in the WISANZ Constitution..  

2.         Member eligibility

a.         General eligibility: In accordance with the Incorporated Societies Act 1908, members of WISANZ must be 16 years of age or over. 

i. WISANZ offers two membership plans: Professional and Tertiary Student. Eligibility for each plan is set out in this section.

ii. We encourage any high school students over the age of 16 not to sign up as a WISANZ member, but instead join WISANZ’s Space Up! club for students at high schools in New Zealand (membership to Space Up! is free).

b.         Professional Membership plan: Anyone who would like to support and enable women and those identifying as gender minorities to achieve gender equity in the New Zealand space sector are welcome to join WISANZ as a Professional Member. (Note: Professional Members are ‘Members’ as defined in the WISANZ Constitution). 

c.         Tertiary Student Membership plan: Anyone enrolled as a student in a New Zealand tertiary provider (University, Institute of technology and polytechnic, or Wānanga) for the year(s) covered by the subscription are eligible to join WISANZ through the Tertiary Student Membership plan. (Note: Tertiary Student Members are ‘Student Members’ as defined in the WISANZ Constitution)

d.         For student members, WISANZ reserve the right to request evidence of enrollment at a New Zealand tertiary institution and enrollment may be verified by WISANZ with the relevant tertiary institution.  Any Student Member not enrolled at a New Zealand tertiary institution will have their WISANZ Student Membership terminated.  The WISANZ Committee will make reasonable efforts to transfer the member to a Professional Membership, and will invoice the member for any additional subscriptions. If additional subscription invoices are not paid in accordance with the WISANZ Constitution invoice payment timelines, membership will be terminated without refund of the any paid subscriptions.  

f.          Online registration for any for any membership plan is considered consent in writing to become a member under the WISANZ Constitution, and the WISANZ Committee may accept or decline an application for membership.

3.         Payment and billing

a.         Annual subscription fees are charged at the time of membership registration through the online portal on the WISANZ website www.womeninspace.co.nz, and must be paid via debit/credit card at sign up before applicants will be added to the WISANZ membership register.

b.         Each Membership Plan has a duration of one year from the date of sign up in the online portal.

i. Exception:  New Memberships during Transition Period: During the initial transition to WISANZ’s online membership portal in 2023 (the transition period being 8 March to 30 June 2023 inclusive), any new Professional or Tertiary Student membership plan will have a duration from the date of sign up until 11.59pm 30 June 2023.  New members who sign up during the transition period will be provided a Discount Coupon via email in advance of 30 June 2023 that can be used when signing up to the new 2023/24 membership plans from 30 June 2023 (or at any time in advance of 30 June 2023) and will apply a discount on the fee charged for the full year on the 2023/24 membership plan such that the fee is prorated to reflect the number of months remaining in the year from the date their membership began during the Transition Period.

c.         Should technical error prevent collection of all or part of the subscription fee for the membership plan through the online portal at the time of sign up, the WISANZ Committee will invoice the applicant for the outstanding subscription amount.   Any such invoices must be paid as set out on the invoice within 30 days of the invoice due date.  The WISANZ Constitution sets out the actions that will be taken by the WISANZ Committee for unpaid subscription invoices, including removal from the WISANZ membership register.      . 

d.         Subscription fees may be modified at the WISANZ Annual General Meeting and any changes will be reflected in the online membership plans established for the successive year.

4.         Suspending or ending membership

a.         Unless renewed, membership and access to online resources will end at 11.59pm on date specified in membership plan. 

b.         A member may end their membership at any time, however they remain liable to pay all subscriptions and other fees to the next renewal date.  Subscription fees will not be refunded if membership is ended by the member before the end of the period covered by the subscription

c.         Conditions of when and how the WISANZ Committee may terminate a membership is set out in the  WISANZ Constitution.     

d.         If a member behaves in a way counter to the WISANZ mission or disruptive to the WISANZ community, membership may be suspended or terminated following an appropriate dispute resolution process as outlined in the  WISANZ Constitution

5.         Privacy, Safety, Online Community Forum Conduct and Security

a.         The WISANZ Privacy Policy is published on the WISANZ website, and may be updated periodically by the WISANZ Committee.

b.         WISANZ may monitor all content on our online community forums, and may moderate (including removing or hiding) any content, posts, links or comments that the WISANZ Committee decides, at its discretion, does not contribute to a positive and safe environment , or contains or promotes disinformation, or does not align with the WISANZ Tikanga/Culture or distracts from or otherwise does not contribute to the Purposes of the network set out in the WISANZ Constitution.

c. Members are not to share any content or images from online forums where any members are identifiable, either in images or text, externally to WISANZ.

d.         The WISANZ Committee reserves the right to remove any members at any time from the online WISANZ Community Forum or Space Up! Community Forum should behaviour or posts not align with the WISANZ Tikanga/Culture or be of a threatening, abusive or lewd nature.  Such behaviour and/or posts may also result in the WISANZ Committee terminating membership in accordance with the WISANZ Constitution.
