UN Global Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit for the Space Sector
In October 2023, two Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand (WISANZ) Committee Members were invited to participate in the UN Space4Women Expert Meeting, co-hosted by the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
The 2023 Expert Meeting developed the first ever UN Global Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit for the Space Sector, which was published in June 2025. The Toolkit aims to improve gender equity and strengthen mainstreaming efforts globally. WISANZ is proud to have New Zealand' women’s perspectives incorportated in this guidance.
WISANZ Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit
Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand are proud to share this Toolkit with our community and the public. This document is an adaptation of the first-ever UN Global Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit, developed following the 2023 UN Space4Women Expert Meeting, to contextualise it for New Zealand’s sector. It translates high-level global guidance into practical, locally relevant actions.
